Peter Power:
Peter Power is an award-winning photographer who specializes in visual storytelling and is based in Toronto. He takes photos for individuals and businesses and shows their individual needs in his photographs that he takes in Canada and abroad. He is one of the best visual storytellers in Canada with high photography and journalism skills. For every project he is assigned, he researches on the topic so that he can take the best photo project and so his subjects are assured of great results. He started to work independently in 2014 and his corporate and commercial work has grown steadily because of it. Peter makes sure to consult with his business partners to ensure they see their own vision and to make their business the best it can be. He has many different clients, but some of his well known clients are The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, Canadian Geographic, and the Canadian Press. He is also a photography instructor at two Ontario community colleges and helps at many different workshops and Speakings. Peter was named Photographer of the Year five times, has won four Canadian National Newspaper Awards (nominated 9 times), and has won the prestigious Governor General’s Mechener Award for Public Service Journalism. He started taking photographs has a hobby in highschool and later as an officer Cadet in the Canadian Military. He left the Military after five years and studied photojournalism at Loyalist College in Bellville, Ontario. His photos are meant to show a story and the reason that they are great is because he doesn’t take more than one photo during a shoot. If you take a bunch of photos and pick the best one that describes the event or person you’re shooting, it gives only one thing to focus on. His photos show emotion and they make you feel like you’re a part of the surroundings in the shot. Most of his photos require you to focus on only one thing and are cropped to help with that.
